Memory Garden April Look Back

April’s weather was up and down, being more down than up it seemed.  However, Memory Garden was still on the go! We enjoyed all our oldies but goodies and added a few new activities to our list like Nursery Rhyme trivia and Scattergories.  Since we couldn’t go outside to plant flowers due to the weather we didn’t let that stop us and planted some indoors instead.  We enjoyed our Easter dinner with family and friends, where fun was had by all. The very next day we had an indoor picnic to celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly day!  Chair volleyball kept everybody on the edge of their seats and chair dancing kept us moving our feet.

We got a little lazy towards the middle of the month and decided we needed a break. We decided not to go out and we ordered in instead.  The residents enjoyed ordering food from Applebee’s and can’t wait for our next Take out Thursday.  We painted bird houses in our craft club with an optimistic mindset that the weather would break and we could hang them in the trees out in our courtyard for everyone to enjoy. By the end of that week we were all set to go to the Audubon where we were able to look at all the different types of reptiles they had on display.

Comfort Today was a gracious host, as always, and invited us to come over once again, this time to enjoy the angelic voices of the Happy Gram Choir.  The residents could not sit still as the Choir sang one song after another.  The fun didn’t stop there because we returned to our home and had a concert of our own with Lucille Shurkus.  The residents sang along, some even got up and danced with staff.

Activities kept rolling in for us as we teased our brains trying to remember different nursery rhymes we grew up reciting, we also enjoyed biscuits in Baking Club and of course Painting with Jill.  We also invited Comfort Today over to enjoy our monthly Tea time with Jill which turned out very well.  We enjoyed each others company and passed around cakes, sandwiches and of course tea.  We kept the ball rolling all month long with concerts by Saved by Grace and music with Angelo. The residents enjoyed other outings to the Prendergast Library and Olive Garden we closed the month out with a nice breakfast at Liscandros.

As much fun as we had in April we are really looking forward to the weather we are all hoping that May will bring.  With the weather we will enjoy the golf cart rides through Louis Ferreri park again as well as the Memorial Day Picnic at the end of the month.  We have many outings to enjoy with a country drive, Davidson’s lunch and a Brown Bag lunch at the Fenton Museum being just a few.  Our indoor activities are going to be a blast as well. We will be having a Cinco de Mayo party, a beach themed party and a wonderful Mothers Day Brunch, just to give you a taste!  As always, we welcome and encourage you to come join in on all the fun here at Memory Garden.  If you have any questions about our activities throughout the month of May please feel free to contact Eleuthern Hunter at 716-488-9434 or by email at ehunter@tanglewoomanor.com.  We hope to see you soon!
