Field of Dreams September Look Back
September sure was a very eventful month for us here at Field of Dreams! With more and more residents slowly moving in, we sure are welcoming the Fall season with open arms.
We kicked off the month with a Labor Day Picnic, indoors, with residents and their loved ones. With a delicious menu of grilled hamburgers, pasta salad, baked beans, peach cobbler, iced tea and lemonade, you bet we were stuffed! For national Cheese Pizza Day, we got a little creative and ended up choosing a dessert pizza instead. We made some chocolatey milkshakes during National Milkshake Day and they were a hit! Our ladies were full of elegance during our Ladies Tea Party while they snacked on some delicious cookies made during our very own baking group.
We got crafty and made some pretty fall themed crafts. We made mason jars decoupaged with fall leaves. We also made pretty fall tree creations with canvas, a little bit of paint, and more fall leaves to create a windy fall tree scene.
Our residents have enjoyed trying and playing many new games as well as some old Classics. We’ve played bingo, bean bag toss, balloon volleyball(our favorite game), indoor lawn darts, stories from a hat, dice bingo, Hangman, Constantinople, and of course a Fall themed Jeopardy.
We had an absolute blast during our Resident birthday party, which we enjoyed on our back patio. With perfect weather, we brought out some old 60s music and everyone danced the afternoon away! We enjoyed more perfect weather with perfect temps on our back patio with some Chicken Soup for the Soul and Lemonade. In celebration of the first day of Autumn, our Activities Director spoiled our residents and staff with some Southern style, homemade Fried Apple Pies. They were amazing!
We welcomed our first music guest, Ron Kirchner to the facility as our residents sang along and danced to his tunes. We ended this wonderful September with a memorable Alzheimer’s Walk held here in Allegany to honor all of those with Alzheimer’s and a cure.
We are so excited for what October has in store for us. With pumpkins, goblins, and witches on the agenda, October will sure be a memorable one. If you have any questions or comments for upcoming activities, please contact Jessica Paprocki, Activities Director at (716)543-4200, extension 4215, or email at [email protected]
