Memory Care Household December Look Back
Christmas was in full swing during the month of December in the Memory Care Households! Residents were busy baking, crafting, and singing all month.
Our baking group tried their hand at making brownie Christmas trees and Christmas cookies. We also baked a cake decorated with holiday sprinkles. Everyone agreed that the snacks were yummy! We also made some neat ornaments for the Christmas tree. Together we made beaded snowflakes and even painted snowflakes. Our artists were hard at work painting and coloring pictures to be hung throughout the households. There were also mounds of paper chains, snowmen, and handmade Christmas cards.
There was a new twist to some favorite old games this month. We enjoyed “Snowman Slam!” by stacking white plastic cups and knocking them down with fabric snowballs. Jingling bells could be heard throughout the household during a fun game of Jingle Bell Toss! Christmas hangman, Christmas Name 10 and Christmas Pictionary got us busy thinking about all things Christmas!
Concerts with Tanglewood folks were wonderful. We saw old favorites like Davis and Eng, Nan Hoffman, and the Larson Family. We also enjoyed some new acts like Stan and Amanda Barton, Viking Chorus, and the St. James Heritage Dancers. The Golden Gems performed their annual Christmas concert and our own Carolyn S. had a featured performance!
Christmas Eve brought hot cocoa and storytelling. We read selections from Chicken Soup for the Christmas Soul and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. And on Christmas morning we got our very own visit from Santa Claus! We finished the year with a New Year’s Eve party with yummy food and a live DJ!
We had a wonderful year here at Memory Care Household and can’t wait to see what next year brings! Happy New Year to all!!
