The Magnolia Memory Care Households February Look Back

The Month of February has been great to us at The Magnolia in the Memory Care Households! We began the month of February hosting a Veteran’s Coffee social for those at the Magnolia that had bravely served in the military. It was such a nice way for our veterans to come together and chat with fellow soldiers and spend time together. We are looking forward to the coming months where we continue to meet, and have other veterans from the community join us too.

The Jamestown Jackals came back to The Magnolia this year to join us in a few rounds of bean bag toss, which is one of our favorite games. Players AJ, Mika, Drew and Raheem were great sports and a wonderful addition to the competition! Most of the players on the team don’t live around here, and come from a number of states including Las Vegas and Michigan. It was wonderful to hear about where they’re from, and made the afternoon more entertaining! We are so grateful that they each took the time to spend the afternoon with us. We hope they visit again soon!

Between some of our favorite activities including bingo and bowling, we did a few new activities in the spirit of love this month. We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a party in the afternoon. We had delicious heart shaped cookies made by our Baking Group, and a sweet and tangy sherbet punch. We got together by the photo booth and took some silly pictures to top the afternoon off! We certainly appreciate any given opportunity to throw a party!

February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day, so our folks decided to decorate and write cards to Operation Gratitude, which is an organization that distributes letters, cards and care packages to active duty soldiers, veterans, and their families. It really meant a lot to us to send our thanks, because many of us had been in their place as soldiers or wives of them ourselves.

Lastly, to end the month of February, we got in the spirit of Mardi Gras and decked out in purple, yellow and green and had delicious and festive donuts to celebrate! And of course, we also had our monthly February birthday party with cupcakes and ice cream!

We are looking forward to welcoming spring as we look into the upcoming month of March. We can’t wait to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day and dance the night away at our prom! As always, we would love to extend a welcome to any friends and family members that would like to join in on the fun with us in The Magnolia Memory Care Households!
