Field of Dreams July Look Back

One thing is for sure here at Field of Dreams, we sure did have quite the eventful month of July! We kicked off the month with a festive and wonderful picnic with grilled hot dogs, potato salad, a green bean medley, and of course to top it off, a delicious strawberry shortcake. We enjoyed a patriotic sing along and patriotic jeopardy to also enjoy the special day.

We certainly took advantage of our favorite snack throughout the month. We enjoyed a freezer pop social in honor of National Freezer Pop Day, and baking delicious homemade brownies for our brownie sundaes during our July Birthday Party.

Residents and staff welcomed honored guests and dignitaries throughout the community for a very exciting Phase Two Grand Opening of our Pavilion, located behind the facility. With live music by the band West, hot dogs and hamburgers, chips and drinks, we danced, sang, and laughed while we celebrated this wonderful event.

You can’t have a summer without a trip for ice cream. We stopped at our local ice cream shop to enjoy some of our favorite flavors, with proper social distancing, masks, and sanitation, of course. We also enjoyed a wonderful scenic drive, enjoying the sights of these “enchanted mountains” we are surrounded by.

Residents welcomed some unique visitors to the Field of Dreams this month. We welcomed Tracy and Big Mike, the horse; staff member, Kelly brought along her baby pygmy goats; and staff member, Vicki brought her new pup Maggie. With lots of love, laughs, and lots of snacks for Big Mike, it sure was a fun way to start off the day.

We also welcomed back one of our favorite music groups, Cindy Sue and Brian Wolcott, and their fur baby, Macho. It is always a session of lots of singing and laughter when they come back. Residents also enjoyed the beautiful voice of one of our very own, Daveen Horton, as we sang along with her, well-known classic hits.

Painting with Jessica is always an interesting class, as we painted an image of a butterfly resting on a flower, from our very own flower garden here at Field of Dreams. The ladies that participated did a wonderful job! We also played many of our favorites here throughout the month with Bingo, Scattergories, Constantinople, Memory Lane Trivia, Sketch, Bean Bag Toss, as well as created many beautiful pieces during our weekly craft clubs.

Baking Group is always a big favorite, as we created many delicious desserts such as cookies, brownies, and a delicious cinnamon roll bake. YUM! Our July Birthday Party couldn’t go incomplete with out some gooey brownie ice cream sundaes, with all of the fixings.

We cannot wait for what August has in store for us. We are looking forward to more gorgeous weather, walks in the park, and making many more fond memories.
