Frewsburg Rest Home May Look Back
May showers didn’t keep us from staying busy last month! We did our best to stay active and enjoy ourselves despite all the rain. When the sun poked through and gave us a beautiful day here and there, we enjoyed relaxing on the front porch in the sun!
We enjoyed making bird feeders with Mark from our Maintenance Department to display in our beautiful back yard. One was placed near the tree we planted in April for Arbor Day, it is really starting to grow! The flowers around the facility are in full bloom and look absolutely beautiful.
We have so many talented residents here at FRH, Bob B. being one of them! Bob is a very skilled artist who often helps out around the facility painting memorials and little tasks like labeling our Herb garden with his beautiful calligraphy. With all that talent how could we not ask him to run a Resident Paint Party?! He did amazing, the residents really loved working with him and learning techniques he uses in his art pieces. We are always looking for ways to engage residents in the activities they truly love!
We had another resident share his skills with us this past month, also! Resident Andy P. hosted a Karaoke Party with his own equipment and music. He sang for us, encouraged other residents to sing favorite songs as well as singing with residents who weren’t quite ready to do it on their own. We sang and danced the afternoon away!
Although Mother’s Day was a dreary weekend we did our best to keep everyone busy and having fun! We had a Paparazzi Jewelry vendor come in so that residents and families could buy a little gift for the special lady in their lives. We also designed our own jewelry boxes for ourselves or someone special. We enjoyed a nice Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday with The Conspire Barbershop Quartet singing for us! They even sang directly to some of our ladies! Smiles all around, ear to ear! On Sunday we had a nice Mother’s Day Lunch-families came in to spend the afternoon and enjoy lunch with their loved ones. We love seeing residents light up when their families come for a visit!
National Police week was this past month so we decided we should bake up some fresh cookies to take to our local police station. We want to make sure they are recognized and thanked for all they do for us and our community!
Musically we had a lot of talent in the house this month. The Golden Gems scratched a few more concerts off their “Tour” list this passed month. They performed for the folks and families at the Tanglewood location as well as here at the Frewsburg Rest Home. They are so very talented; all our folks truly love supporting their fellow residents. We also enjoyed performances by Michael Dennehy, The Harmony gals, The Conspire Barbershop Quartet and Cindy Sue! We love having live entertainment come to play for us!
We had several outings this month, but going to lunch at Sprague’s had to be a favorite! It is such a beautiful restaurant and was a first experience for many of our folks. Some residents from Tanglewood Manor joined us there for our afternoon meal. It is definitely worth the drive!
Last but not least our Veterans raised our new flag at FRH in honor of Memorial Day. They were also in the Frewsburg Memorial Day Parade! We had our own float as well at the Frewsburg Legions’, they invited some of our Veterans to ride with them too!
All in all it was a very eventful month! We also started construction on our new addition of the Memory Care Unit which will be opening soon! For more information or if you would like to schedule a tour please call 716-569-3095 or email nmucheck@frewsburgresthome.com.
