Tanglewood Manor August Look Back
What a month we’ve had here at Tanglewood Manor! We kicked off August, with a memorable performance by one of our favorites, Old Dawg Blue Grass band. Our residents, staff and guests got competitive for a grand prize for the biggest fish at our Annual Fishing Tournament in our very own Louis Ferreri Memorial Park as well as a delicious BBQ.
We also enjoyed the fun sounds of Darren and Kristen, the wonderful Gospel singing group Saved By Grace, the fun and entertaining Michael Dennehy, and the wonderful Lake Erie Banjo Jammers. We ended our Summer Concert Series on an entertaining note, with a good rainfall, while listening to Happy Days Band. Tanglewood welcomed back Rick Bruening with his beautiful music and interesting facts about the music he plays. We gobbled up a delicious birthday cake while listening to the relaxing harmonica played by our favorite Angelo.
Residents celebrated Lucille Ball’s 107th birthday with some I Love Lucy episodes. Tanglewood welcomed Gary Kunkler as he presented his grand collection of wildlife photography. We struck a pose and snapped a photo with the beautiful statue of Lucy Ball, at Celeron Park while enjoying a fun paper bagged lunch. Our residents enjoyed a delicious treat of German Chocolate Cake while traveling to Germany in our Armchair Travels activity. In honor of National Dog Day, we enjoyed a loving and fluffy dog show as they performed their many talents.
One thing we love for sure here at Tanglewood are our outings. One place we truly enjoyed was the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, right here in Jamestown. We got to explore the beautiful illustrations and artwork of this talented man as he explored across America in his trek to show his appreciation for birds and wildlife. We had an absolute blast at the Off the Beaten Path Bookstore and found some new works to read. In honor of National Thrift Store day, we made a short trek across the street to the Salvation Army and picked up some good bargains. Some of our residents left extremely full from Applebee’s as well.
We said goodbye to our wonderful Activity Director, Ericka Johnson and surprised her with a loving farewell social, as she will pursue her passion and return to school. We gobbled up some delicious cupcakes and some fruity punch in her celebration.
Here at Tanglewood, we look forward to what September will bring as we kick off the “back to school” season and look forward to the beginning of beautiful Fall.
