Memory Care Household March Look Back

March in like a lion this year, but we kept our spirits up in Memory Car Household with lots of fun activities!

We were able to enjoy a couple of our musical guests at the beginning of the month. The Larsen Family came and brought an eclectic mix of music for us to enjoy. It’s always fun to see the talented kids performing! We also had fun listening to our regulars Don Sandy and Angelo Alaimo. Don and his accordian kept us dancing in our seats at Tuesday morning coffee hour, while Angelo brought his fun harmonica tunes and jokes for us to enjoy!

Although we were missing our other guests this month, we had a lot of fun making our own music with our activities assistant, Mary Schimidt. Mary joins us every Tuesday and Thursday for Music with Mary. Sometimes we enjoy a sing-along together. Other times we play some musical games. This month, we even had a drum circle, which was a lot of fun!

St. Patrick’s Day was in full swing in Memory Care Household. We colored St. Patrick’s Day pictures to brighten our walls and even enjoyed a St. Patrick’s Day happy hour social. We enjoyed listening to Irish music while indulging in pub snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. We also put a St. Patrick’s Day spin on some of our favorite games like Hangman and Pictionary. Of course we enjoyed the corned beef and cabbage dinner prepared by our dietary department.

In spite of all the good food, we manage to keep fit by going to our fitness center twice a week. We also engaged in physical games like bowling, corn hole, and indoor horse shoes! Some other games we enjoyed are ping pong basketball, hula hoop beanbag toss, and balloon volleyball. 

We also like to keep our minds sharp by playing lots of memory and trivia games. Spelling bees are a very popular activity. We also enjoy Name 5 and memory cards. Our baking group was busy this month baking yummy cakes and cookies. We got a head start on Easter decorations by making some really cute cotton ball sheep!
