As December comes to a close, Mother Nature has blanketed us with snow just in time to wrap up the celebrations of the holiday season. We spent many moments admiring its silent and beautiful collection, often pausing at the window just to watch the snow fall.
Despite the colder weather and the continued accumulation of snow, we kept warm in the light of the goodness of the Christmas season. The Christmas trees were set up and decorated, as well as various other decorations throughout the facility. We added to the décor with our own decorations such as snowflake cut outs and Christmas coloring pages.
To help set the holiday mood, we often gathered around the fireplace to sing carols, read stories and simply reminisce. We enjoyed the company of those around us and shared many fond stories and laughs this way. We also began a new version of our popular “Coffee House,” instead, calling it “Cocoa Café.” This was a big hit for our chocolate loving friends. We also decorated gingerbread houses, made homemade Christmas cards and enjoyed many other holiday related activities in between.
We continued to enjoy the variety of music events hosted by Tanglewood this month. We had an absolute blast with Gabriella Caruso and Lucille Shurkus, and thoroughly enjoyed Christmas music performed by The First Baptist Church of Ellington.
Per popular vote, we once again gathered for a Ladies Tea Party. Prior to the party, we made frosted gingerbread bars to later enjoy all together. They turned out fantastic and were a big hit with the ladies. We also continue to enjoy painting with Jill, and music with Dave Johnson every month.
Warmer weather is nowhere to be seen as January fast approaches. We are excited as always, for the array of activities and events to look forward to in the New Year. We have high hopes that 2018 is just as spectacular as 2017 was. As always we extend our most warm welcome to all of you to come and join us in celebrating the month of January as we start this coming year off right!
