Memory Garden Updates, December ’17

December was a very very busy month for Memory Garden. We had great music as well as many different great outings. We began our Month with a concert with Gabriella Caruso. She preformed a melody of Christmas favorites for the residents and had them up on their feet dancing with staff and singing along. When the party was over the residents were very sad to see her go but reassured that she would be back to preform more of their favorite music. That same afternoon we had an outing to Johnny’s Lunch where the residents enjoyed the legendary hot dogs reminiscing back to the times they used to venture here with their families. This was only the beginning, as we had a concert at Comfort today with the Madrigal Choir from Jamestown High School followed by more music with concerts with Ken Larsen and the boys, Cindy Sue, Saved by Grace, Bonnie, Stevie Davis, and of course or monthly favorites Angelo and Spencer. The Golden Gems were kept busy as well, giving a Christmas program every Wednesday at different locations. Needless to say the music just kept going on and on and our residents loved it!

Memory Garden UpdatesWe enjoyed many activities this month at Memory Garden. Not only did we enjoy the oldies, but goodies such as ring toss, bingo and bowling. We also enjoyed the new activities geared towards the holiday season such as Christmas Jingo, Snowball toss, making ornaments, Jingle bell toss, Christmas sing a longs, and reindeer toss. We had a few visits from the girl scouts who caroled up and down our halls bringing cheer to all of our residents. We also enjoyed an evening with the Phil Harmonic Band. The violins, bass, drums and flute were just the thing our residents needed. On one of our more moderate evenings we enjoyed a drive around the city looking at all the different light shows the season has brought. The residents really enjoyed our Christmas Party opening all the gifts they received then enjoying a great meal with Family and friends.

December brought many great times and we are left with wonderful memories. January looks very promising as well with concerts, outings and of course great activities to keep us going. We have our favorite music with Angelo and Spencer as well as another concert with Gabriella and Bumpy Peterson, just to name a few. We will be taking an outing to the Audubon as well as the Prendergast library to partake in adult coloring and music. We will be starting a baking club and of course Jill will have her tea time with the residents to discuss the hot topics of the day. We are going to enjoy a hot cocoa social as well as an ice cream social at the end of the month, and will not be letting the cold weather bring us down as we will be having a Winter BBQ inside where it is warm. The residents will also be able to watch as the staff, family and friends have a friendly battle of whose chili is better with our Chili Cook Off. Needless to say December was great but we will be bringing in the New Year with a Bang. As always friends and family are always welcome to come and join in on any of our activities
