Music To Our Ears
Music of the Holiday Season brings joy to the world and our lives as we celebrate Christmas at the Tanglewood Group.
With the gentle strumming of the guitar and the snowflakes falling slowly in the distance, weeks of preparation for the Tanglewood Group Christmas Show lead to a month full of great entertainment this Holiday Season.
The Christmas Show at Tanglewood Manor was the first major Golden Gems performance for new music director Spencer Drake. Spencer has been playing music since he was 12 years old, and is a professional musician and music instructor. Spencer plays regularly with the band KoKoMo Time, instructs private lessons, and teaches guitar at the North County Campus of JCC.
The Golden Gems prepared classic Christmas tunes including “Jingle Bells”, “Deck the Halls”, and “White Christmas” for their holiday debut at Frewsburg Rest Home, Tanglewood Manor, and Memory Garden. Each show is always promised to please the crowd, but the most anticipated performance of the year takes place at Tanglewood Manor when owner Nick Ferreri comes to town. Other forms of entertainment included the bell choir Ring for Joy that played their own rendition of “Silent Night” and “Edelweiss,” and the Dietary Department singing “Frosty the Snowman.” The Tanglewood Group Christmas Show was a major hit at each facility, accompanying joy and good spirits to attendees by ending with a group sing along of “We Wish you a Merry Christmas.”
Local choirs and carolers also made their way through the Tanglewood Group this month. The Vikings Club, Southwestern Girl Scouts and Jamestown High School Madrigal’s volunteered their time to residents from singing songs to handing out homemade ornaments. Some of our favorite entertainers including Gabriella Caruso, The Lambert’s, Larsen’s, Rick Bruening and Saved by Grace incorporated popular and religious holiday melodies from the past.
As December comes to a close, January opens a whole new year of entertainment options for residents at The Tanglewood Group.
