We definitely made it a December to remember here at Tanglewood Manor! From snow storms to sipping hot chocolate, we easily made it a great month to end the year with.
We started December off right when our friends from Starbucks visited just in time for the Holidays by bringing along with them delicious flavored coffee and homemade cookies to munch on. Music with Gabriella, Lucille Shurkus, The Lamberts, and Saved by Grace got us into the holiday spirit with our toes tapping and our hips shaking! Volunteers from the Ellington Baptist Church performed a Christmas cantata for us, and The Golden Gems had performances at Frewsburg Rest Home, Tanglewood Manor, and Memory Garden. Our annual Christmas Show showcased holiday songs old and new, including “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” and “Santa Claus is coming to Town.” Singing sure made us hungry, and the kitchen was kind enough to make yummy sugar cookies after our performance! Owner Nick Ferreri attended our big show in our main lounge, and also joined us for a few rounds of shuffleboard, bowling, and pool!
To celebrate the upcoming holiday we made Christmas cookies, homemade cards, decorated a ginger bread house, wreaths, and went for a Christmas light’s drive around Jamestown. By the time Christmas Eve came, the weather outside sure was frightful! We enjoyed some piping hot chocolate in the lounge while reading classic Christmas stories including The Night Before Christmas and A Christmas Carol. The snow sure was coming down on Christmas Day as we opened our presents that morning. Women received beautiful tote bags and the men got Tanglewood tees. Each resident was given either a coloring book or word search and materials to go with. Christmas dinner was delicious as we were served ham, gravy, carrots, stuffing, and apple pie for dessert!
