Tanglewood Manor Look Back at March 2018

Although we weren’t always so fortunate with the weather for most of March, we found plenty O’ luck right here in our home at Tanglewood Manor!

We began the month of March with a coloring contest of a very festive shamrock to get us into the Saint Patrick’s Day Spirit. Participants had a week to perfect their masterpiece with their choice of medium, which not to our surprise, impressed residents, staff, and family members. Linda T. was gladly crowned winner with her beautiful work of art.

Music is always a favorite pastime of ours, and March sure was full of it! We welcomed Cody Hiller for the first time where he and his accompanist played beautiful classical music on the violins. Kathy Regis and her students from the Regis Singing Strings performed in the main lounge one afternoon, and really wowed us with their talent! We enjoyed watching the children play, and can’t wait for them to come back next year. More music with Gabriella Caruso and Davis and Eng occupied our time this month as well.

Saint Patrick’s Day brought out the Irish in each of us for the day. We began the festivities with a photo booth that let us show off our green attire with the silly props we had. Keeping up the spirits, we partied the afternoon away with a Saint Patrick’s Day snack of “Leprechaun Bait” and played a couple rounds of bingo. It was a great afternoon to be had by all, whether we were Irish or not! The Golden Gems performed tunes including “My Wild Irish Rose,” and “Irish Lullaby,” for their Saint Patrick’s Day inspired concert. Residents from Tanglewood, Memory Garden, Memory Care Households, Frewsburg Rest Home and clients from Comfort Today all had the pleasure of spending the afternoon together and enjoying the music.

March started a new activity for us called “Arm Chair Travels.” Our first trip was to Ireland (of course!) where we spent the afternoon eating Irish soda bread, drinking coffee, tea and cocoa, and watched an Ireland inspired movie Leap Year. We enjoyed it so much, we wondered why we hadn’t started it sooner!

As March comes to a close we welcome April with open arms with so much to look forward to. We are excited about our upcoming delicious Easter dinner on the first, and participating in other festive activities including coloring eggs, baking treats, and having a celebration for the holiday. As always we would love to extend a welcome to family and friends to join us in all the upcoming fun we have next month at Tanglewood Manor!
