Memory Care Households at Tanglewood Manor May Look Back

What a busy month we’ve had here in the Memory Care Households!  Some major events that took place in the units were our concerts which consisted of the Larson Family, Rick Bruening, The Golden Gems, and topped off with Bumpy and Bart.  We also had a great time at the monthly ladies tea party, birthday party, and paint session with Jill.

 

While we were able to enjoy a few activities outside, the rain still swept up most of the month.  We didn’t let the weather stop us from having fun as we had a rain boot decorating contest and colored scenes of warm weather as Angelo Alaimo played his harmonica and took us on a nostalgic journey.

On the days that we were able to get outside, we enjoyed walks in the park and along the path, bird watching, and sitting in the sun to color and play games.  We topped off the month of May with a day of traveling to Italy as we watched an Italian movie and enjoyed authentic Italian snacks!  We also opened up the pavilion to have our annual Memorial Day Picnic outside.  Most of the residents were able to join us outside for a lunch of BBQ chicken, broccoli salad, potato salad, and watermelon. Everyone left with full stomachs and big smiles!

Next month promises a great time as we look forward to seeing the first concerts in the park of Gems in the Park.  These will all certainly be a highlight of the month.  We are also excited for some outings coming up.  As the weather continues to warm up, it only makes sense that we would take a trip to Bemus to not only look at the beautiful Chautauqua Lake, but also enjoy a nice ice cream cone.  Some other outings we will take part in include, a walk along the track at the ice arena and lunch at Ecklofs Bakery in Jamestown.  We will also begin our golf cart rides around the Tanglewood Grounds to enjoy some wonderful scenery. June also brings Father’s Day so we will be celebrating by having “Donuts with Dad” and a lot of the residents have expressed excitement for this particular activity!  We will also begin having popsicles on the porch to try and beat the heat.
