Tanglewood Manor July Look Back

Wow! What a fun and eventful month we’ve had this July, here at Tanglewood Manor!

We took a “trip” to Hawaii with a delicious barbeque and an entertaining Luau photo booth to kick us off at the beginning of the month. We also enjoyed a memorable Fourth of July picnic to celebrate our Independence Day. To continue with our patriotism, we played a couple fun rounds of Patriotic Jeopardy, Hangman and sang our hearts out during our Fourth of July Sing Along.

We kept our dancing shoes and songs in our hearts as we enjoyed entertainment by Nostalgia John, Scott Roberts and the Kings Express, and a wonderful performance by our very own Golden Gems at Frewsburg Rest Home. We also sipped down a delicious root beer float during our July birthday party celebration while listening to our favorite harmonica player, Angelo, as he also told many jokes. We sang along with Lucille Shurkus, the talented Larsen Family, Jamestown’s very own Kokomo Time Band and the Steve Strickland Duo during our Summer Concert Series.

To go along with our barbeques, one way to win our hearts here at Tanglewood Manor, is yummy treats! We discovered our own hidden talents, while creating beautiful and sweet creations of cake decorating with Lindsay from Comfort Today. We enjoyed a bonfire and S’mores in our very own Louis Ferreri Memorial Park. Some of us tried a S’more for the first time and boy were they messy!

We created adorable flip flop cookies to enjoy during our Ladies Tea Party. Our monthly Armchair Travels was a hit, as we enjoyed a special trip to Canada, where we watched an interesting travel guide film about the country and super fresh maple donuts! YUM!! Our Take out Tuesday was our big favorite, Davidsons!!!

One thing we favor most is our outings and a chance to get out and have some fun! We went happy and left extremely full, from Aunt Millie’s Family Restaurant in Irving, NY. We played a competitive round of putt putt golf at the Lakewood Golf Center, and of course topped it off with a yummy ice cream treat. Speaking of ice cream, we took a ride to Big Tree Ice Cream as well as we all screamed for ice cream!  We got our creative juices flowing with an interesting game of Musical Masterpieces, as we started off with a shape, passing the picture along, like musical chairs. Once we got our original drawing back, we got to laugh and talk about how fun our masterpieces became. We laughed and faced our fears while playing an entertaining game of What’s in the Bag?

We enjoyed a fun blast from the past, and took a trip down memory lane with a wonderful antique car show. We also took up a practice session of fishing in the park, for our upcoming Annual Fishing Tournament in August. We took home the gold as we had an eventful Senior Olympics week, the last week of July to conclude a great and memorable month.

We are so excited for the upcoming month of August. Please join us as we celebrate the last and final month of the summer.
