Frewsburg Rest Home August Look Back
What a beautiful month we had this August! I hope everyone got out to enjoy the beautiful sunshiny days like we did! We started out our month with a corn roast in the yard, and ended the month with one also! We made S’mores with our Rest Home family in the side yard just like we did as kids and went out to get ice cream at Tastee Corners to cool us down on those hot summer days! We love getting outside in this nice weather, so we moved our activities outside any chance we could get!
We also got to enjoy some ice cream floats on the porch, go fishing at Tanglewood for their Annual Fishing Tournament for residents, staff and their families. We also were able to take a trip to the Barcelona Lighthouse to enjoy the sights.
Some of the REALLY hot days this summer landed us inside with the air conditioning running, what better way to enjoy being inside then with great entertainment! We enjoyed Bumpy & Bart singing and strumming away on their guitar. We also enjoyed Michael Dennehy who always puts on a good patriotic show for us. We of course got to enjoy a few Summer Concerts in the Louis Ferreri Park, THREE this month! We enjoyed music from Old Dawg Blue Grass Band, Lake Erie Banjo Jammers as well as the Happy Days Band! Of course, we were also able to enjoy some Karaoke singing of our own here at home!
We had the pleasure of going to the Office of the Aging Picnic and meeting many new friends as well as some old friends from Tanglewood who met us there! We played BINGO and ate an amazing meal, we even got to meet Senator Tom Reed, Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello, Sheriff Joseph A. Gerace and Assemblyman Andy Goodell! We had a great time, Alice topped it off by jumping on the Marry-go-Round for a spin before we left! Moving on in the month we enjoyed dinner at The Village Casino, Coffee at the Myers Memorial Library here in town and Breakfast at the Randolph R&M! We sure do stay busy!
We enjoyed having our own car show here in our parking lot this month as well! We had the Chautauqua Lake AACA car club out with their beautiful cars for an amazing show that filled our entire lot! Some folks from the community came out and enjoyed the cars, as well as a hot dog or two right off the grill. Our maintenance man, and grill master, Mark and his wife are so great to help out on their own time to bring smiles to our folks faces! Awards were given out to the Best Of Show, Favorite Car and Most Unique Car which the residents , staff and folks from the community voted on while walking around. Fun was had by all and we truly enjoyed seeing those who came out from the community for the show as well!
Towards the end of our month, we got to see a few of the caterpillars Mark brought in for us from home turn into beautiful Monarch Butterflies for us to hold and admire a while before releasing them in our backyard! All in all we had a blast this August and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year holds! So come out and enjoy some of our fun activities with your friends and family at the Frewsburg Rest Home! And don’t forget, every Tuesday we welcome everyone to our Coffee House at 10:00 a.m. in our dining room where we serve drinks and a morning snack!
The construction in our back yard for our new Memory Care unit is getting close to completion! If you would like to speak with someone about the fast-approaching opening please contact us at 716-569-3095 or email at nmucheck@frewsburgresthome.com.
