Memory Garden September Look Back
September weather had us wondering what the next day would bring but we kept on trucking and enjoyed every day regardless of what mother nature threw at us. We started the month out inside with a great pizza party on Lilac Lane. The weather was beautiful outside. Then we planned on going outside for campfire music and S’mores , then it rained. We didn’t let that stop us we set up the Soda Shoppe, popped those S’mores in the microwave and enjoyed our S’mores and campfire music with Spencer. The following day some of the residents enjoyed a tasty treat having Olive Garden in our beautiful private dining room on the first floor. Shrimp Scampi seemed to be a big favorite for a few of the residents. We enjoyed a great performance with Gabriela, the residents always love when she comes and sings for them. The following week we enjoyed not one but two more concerts, one with Lucille Shurkus and another with the lovely Nan Hoffman.
Concerts weren’t the only thing we did to keep ourselves entertained. We enjoyed going out to lunch at Davidson’s as well as having a breakfast outing to Bob Evans. The residents always love getting out to eat, who doesn’t. We enjoyed our monthly Tea party with Jill, as always Comfort Today joined in. Conversation and Laughter fills the room when these two facilities get together.
Oktoberfest started on September 22nd and we weren’t going to let everybody else have all the fun. We enjoyed our own Oktoberfest right here at Memory Garden with great music , sausages and yes root beer! We enjoyed every last bite and sip.
We had our oldies but goodies in activities such as cornhole, frisbee golf, nursery rhyme trivia and even tried our luck at Jeopardy. The residents enjoyed our baking club as well, baking us delicious cheese cake cookies and serving all of the residents. They went over very well.
We hate to leave the fun we had in September but October is right around the corner ushering in the holiday months and we are ready! We have concerts with Stan Barton, Cindy Sue, and Bumpy and Bart. Don Sandy won’t be with us this month , but that won’t stop coffee house. We will enjoy singing songs as we enjoy our coffee and cookies. We have outings scheduled for Betsy’s 5 Corner Kitchen, Davidson’s, Johnny’s Lunch and Bob Evans. We also have an outing scheduled to go to Pumpkintown in Busti.
We are starting a new tradition here at Memory Garden and Jill will be hosting a Breakfast Bonanza cooking breakfast for a full floor. We are starting out with 1st floor for this month which will be Iris Way and Black Eyed Susan and will rotate through the floors every month. October will also bring all the fun Halloween games such as candy corn toss, mummy bowling and so many more. There will be a Halloween party on Halloween as well as the children from Zion pre school will be over to show off their costumes. We look forward to all the fun things coming up and also look forward to family and friends joining us.
