Frewsburg Rest Home October Look Back
The winter chill is upon us, so we are embracing the season here at the Frewsburg Rest Home! We started out our month with making candy dishes that look like apples for the teachers at Frewsburg High School and Elementary School. We even had two teachers here we wanted to honor as well for World Teachers Day!
Our month was packed with entertainment this month! We had some returning favorites like Gabriella, Russ Keyser and Saved-by-Grace play for us. We love getting to know our entertainers, it makes the show that much more fun! We had a few new people come sing for us, and they blew us away! One band called BLT came in and played their guitars and sang for us, they had us on our feet clapping and singing along! We also had a lady named Audrey Zimmerman play for us one evening this month and that was a great treat after our dinner meal. Spencer, our Music Director here at Tanglewood Group, also came to do a sin-a-long with us! Can’t forget our Karaoke with Andy, one of our residents here at the rest home. He is a great entertainer and great at getting others to sing a long with him! Music is a house favorite!
We have stayed awfully busy despite the cold change in temperature this month! We went to dinner at Meeders Restaurant again per request, took a ride through Allegany State Park to see the leaves changing, painted wine glasses and mini pumpkins for the Halloween season and did a paint party with Jill, an amazing Activities staff member from Tanglewood!
With the cold season fast approaching we had to do some of the season appropriate MUSTS like having a bonfire in the back yard! We also had
cider and donuts, had a Tailgate Party and watched the football game, built a scarecrow, made some Frankenstein milkshakes, played pumpkin putt-putt and had a Halloween party with friends and family! We welcomed the Leo’s in to carve pumpkins with us, that was so much fun! We just love having the kids come and do things with us, and boy did our pumpkins turn out great!
Do you remember watching The Price is Right growing up, and even to this day! We decided to try our own take at the game, the residents loved it! Everyone had a good time and took home a prize, if the price was right! Another favorite this month was making our own tie dyes! Everyone’s turned out different and unique, they looked great!
We rounded out the month with Halloween and a Veteran Party with our friend Ethel from the Frewsburg Legion! She is so good to our Veterans, always bringing a smile to their faces! We also love getting to see all the kids costumes when handing out candy! Boy do they come up with some great costumes these days!
All in all, despite the cold, we had a great month and we cannot wait to see what November has in store for us!
