Tanglewood Manor May Look Back

The month of May has treated us well at Tanglewood Manor. The change in season and frequent days of rain welcomed a bloom of flowers and trees we’ve enjoyed from our back deck and during walks in our park. The change in sunny days toward the end of the month only made us more eager for what is to come in June!

We began the month of May with a spring concert hosted by our very own Golden Gems. Our residents sure worked hard weeks prior to perfect their springtime tunes. We can’t wait to hear what they come up with next in the weeks to come! We celebrated Cinco de Mayo this year with a tasty nacho bar that we enjoyed with the company of our friends. We had a great roundup of musicians this month including Kings Express, Janene Jaynes, Lucille Shurkus, and Cindy Sue. Angelo Aliamo also stopped by again this month for some birthday party entertainment! Last by not least, we hosted a special Mother’s Day Brunch including a yummy parfait bar and delicious mock MOM-osas. It was certainly a memorable morning for all.

 
We had such a great time with our Pie Face Fundraiser this month! We had contestants Shannon Carnahan (Case Management), Roxanne Huddleson (Case Management), Jessica Paprocki (Activities), Adam Puelo (Fitness Center), Brad Lawson (Maintenance), Bob Olson (Maintenance) and Ben Whittaker (Maintenance) help us raise some money for our Resident Christmas Fund by becoming willing participants! Whoever received the most money donations in their jar at the end of the month was the lucky winner, which turned out to be Brad Lawson – earning $37! Shannon Carnahan raised $14.00 and Adam Puelo raised over $9.00. Brad, Shannon, and Adam each got a pie to the face, which was an entertaining site for all! We then added a special twist – Roxanne, Jessica, Bob and Ben would then compete in a musical chairs competition to determine who else got pied! Those that lost a seat got a pie to the face, which ended with Roxanne Huddleson as the winner. She had the option to “take one for the team” or have our winner Brad Lawson receive another pie. Roxanne was a great sport and decided to spare Brad another pie by getting one for herself! It was such a great and hilarious afternoon enjoyed by all that attended, that we’re still talking about it!
In between our many parties and musical guests, we went shopping at Walmart, Dollar Tree, and our new favorite, TJ Maxx! We utilized the crisp spring weather by playing lawn croquet with our friends from Comfort Today and taking brisk long strolls through our park. At the end of the month we spent Memorial Day together in observation and thanks to our Veteran’s. We had a delicious feast of BBQ Fireman’s chicken, potato salad, marinated veggie salad, and a refreshing slice of watermelon in our beautiful Louis Ferreri Memorial Park.

As May has come to a close, we have much to look forward to in the month of June as we anxiously await the summer season’s arrival. We kick off June by welcoming back some of our favorite performers for The Summer Concert Series, including The Barbara Jean Duo, The Happy Days Band, and The Band Anastazja. We’ll be taking full advantage of the warm temperatures with a few ice cream outings, and of course spending our time doing our favorite activity – BINGO!
