Tanglewood Manor October Look Back

October was certainly a fun filled but busy month here at Tanglewood Manor! We really got into the spirit of the season with many Halloween themed activities, crafts, and musical performances. We also enjoyed the sunny days we had and the beautiful fall colors as they emerged on the trees.

We had many musical guests this month, each one bringing their own style and variety of music for us to enjoy, many performing some Halloween favorites. Musical guests, the Larsen family stopped by and performed for us followed by Russ Keiser and Nan Hoffman. Later in the month, Bart and Bumpy stopped by. These are some of our regular musical guests and also our favorites. We sure do enjoy each performance from them and look forward to their visits each month. We also enjoyed some new music from the ladies of the Chautauqua Shores acapella choir. Lots of laughter could be heard as the ladies performed comedic skits to go with their music. A great time was had by all and we hope to see them again very soon!

Tanglewood groups including the Golden Gems, our baking group and our craft club were very busy this month getting in to the Halloween spirit! We were fortunate to have a Halloween concert put on by Tanglewood Group’s resident choir, the Golden Gems. Listening to the beautiful voices of some of our residents was a real treat. Their hard work and practice for their performance really showed. Next up, the Gems were on the move, putting on a concert for our neighbors at Brookdale. They did a fantastic job at both events and we are so proud of them!

Our craft club and baking groups really got into the Halloween spirit with some spooky treats and crafts. Graveyard pudding cups and gooey monster cookies were some of the spooky creations on the menu for our baking group while our craft club painted pumpkins to decorate the building. We also made ghost lollipop favors for the Halloween social and parade!

By far, the best part of the month was Halloween itself! The day was packed full of Halloween fun and visitors. The Preschoolers from Zion Covenant came over to spend some time with us, celebrate the day and to make a craft. A Halloween photo booth made for tons of laughs as did the costume parade. A Halloween party was next up with delicious Halloween themed snacks. In the evening, we welcomed trick-or-treaters, with residents giving out candy and enjoying the smiling faces of the little ghosts, superheros, and princesses that stopped in, making the day complete.

We sure did have a great October here at Tanglewood Manor and look forward to the upcoming holidays that are headed our way in the months to come!
