Tanglewood Manor November Look Back
November has been a fun-filled month here at Tanglewood Manor as we celebrated this time of Thanksgiving. We started off the month by getting an early start on holiday shopping when Kathy Roselle hosted her sale in our main lounge. We also went on our monthly trips to Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree. Everyone loves a good bargain!
Our Veterans were honored with a luncheon hosted by Comfort Today. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and we were pleased to be able to show our gratefulness for their service.
Our baking group got into the holiday spirit by making Rice Krispie treat turkey legs an serving them at our Harvest Social. They were delicious and served with apple cider! We also baked chocolate chip cookies and distributed them to our staff as a big “thank you” for all the hard work everyone does.
We enjoyed many musical guests this month. Among them were some old favorites such as Bart & Bumpy, The Lamberts, and Michael Dennehy. Rick Bruening treated us to his gift of interweaving stories and songs. He shared heartfelt Thanksgiving stories and silly songs about turkeys! We also enjoyed the new talents of the musical group BLT and a special guest, Michael Moore, the son of one of our residents.
We enjoyed playing many of our favorite games like ladder ball and bingo. We also had an exciting trivia game of poke-a-turkey! Residents had a blast trying to answer the tricky Thanksgiving trivia questions so they could pick a prize from the turkey!
Everyone had a chance to hang a leaf on our Thankful tree: “Thank you for all of God’s blessings.”, “I am thankful for my sister Rose,” and “I’m thankful for my friends, family, and definitely cheesecake.” were some of the blessings left on the tree.
Thanksgiving day was enjoyed by all. We played bingo in the morning and Thanksgiving word scramble in the afternoon. In between we enjoyed the delicious dinner prepared by our wonderful dietary staff.
We had a wonderful November here at Tanglewood and are looking forward to the hustle and bustle that December will be sure to bring!
