Tanglewood Manor December Look Back

The whirlwind of December has come and gone, and we enjoyed every minute of it! From concerts to Christmas parties, games to gifts, Tanglewood was abuzz with activity.

We began our month with a take-out pizza party from Lena’s Pizza. Yummy! More food fun was had at our December birthday party, hot chocolate on Christmas Eve, and of course our New Year’s Eve party! Some of our favorite entertainers were back to celebrate the holidays with us. Davis and Eng sang some wonderful traditional Christmas music for us. Stan and Amanda Barton added a bluegrass twist to Christmas tunes, and Nan Hoffman even had some Christmas-themed dancing dolls in her program! We had three evening performances this month as well. The St. James Heritage dancers got everyone dancing! The Viking Chorus gave a beautiful performance and of course everyone enjoyed the high energy, jokes and songs from the KoKoMo Band. Our Activities staff put on a memorable performance, as well as our own Nick Ferreri joined us in a fun ensemble of Santa Baby, during our annual Golden Gems Christmas Concert.

Christmas trees were an artistic theme this month with drawing and painting. Spencer Drake helped us master the art of sketching brightly lit Christmas trees, while our own Jill Dunn gave step-by-step instructions in painting a snow-covered tree. Residents and staff enjoyed a door decorating contest this year. The competition was high as the winners received a Tim Horton’s gift card to enjoy.

We were once again treated to the generosity of the community churches when they came to sing Christmas carols and pass out Christmas gifts. We are blessed here at Tanglewood Manor to be a part of such a wonderful community.  Christmas Eve brought the coziness of sipping hot chocolate while listening to Christmas stories. Everyone enjoyed childhood memories while listening to ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Christmas Day brought our own visit from jolly old St. Nicholas! Fun was had by all as presents were passed and no one was on the naughty list! We rounded out 2019 with a New Year’s party! We enjoyed yummy food and music by DJ Art Asquith.

We have had a terrific year here at Tanglewood Manor and are so excited to see what’s in store for 2020!
