Memory Care Households January Look Back
The New Year got off to a great start here in the Memory Care Households! Music and games were a big part of the fun in January.
We enjoyed listening to some of our favorites like the Larson Family and Cindy Sue. We were also treated to concerts from the Lamberts and Lucille Shurkus. Every Tuesday brought the wonderful accordion playing of Don Sandy during Coffee House with Tanglewood Manor. No birthday party would be complete without Angelo Alaimo and his harmonica! We didn’t want to leave just the singing to the professionals though! We had Sing Along with Mary every Tuesday and Thursday as well!
Our games had a winter theme this month. Old favorites took on a frosty quality such as Snowman Hangman and Winter Pictionary. Each new puzzle and drawing brought up a new topic of reminisce about. Other games included Name that Face (a picture game of famous folks), Memory Cards, and What’s in the Hat? We kept warm in the frost weather by playing a variety of physical games as well. Bowling, Ladderball, and Hula Hoop Bean Bag Toss were favorites. We also playing a rousing game of Snowman Slam!
Our baking group treated everyone to brownies one afternoon. They also made cupcakes for our Ladies Tea Party. The arts were not neglected as we had the opportunity to color several times. We also got creative with a watercolor class by our own Jill Dunn. Residents were encouraged to let their memories guide them in painting beautiful scenes.
We had a lot of good times this month, but you can bet February will be packed with just as much fun! If you have any questions or comments for upcoming activities, please contact Kelly Pattyson, Activities Director at (716)483-2876, ext 2222, or email at KPattyson@tanglewoodmanor.com.
