Tanglewood Manor Memory Care Household May Lookback
With May coming to a close, and as we plan for a very busy and eventful June, we reflect on all of the fun, happiness, and blessings that the month of May afforded us with. The month of May started with a Derby Day celebration! Although we did not get to see the horses’ race, we sipped on Mint Juleps and decorated fancy hats to prepare for this year’s turtle races! Our fun continued on Cinco de Mayo when we had ourselves a Mexican Fiesta! We enjoyed chips and salsa as we “salsa-ed” ourselves to Mexican music.
As the month continued we celebrated Mother’s Day. Although a bit different than years past, we still were able to reminisce about our journey through motherhood. We had a Mother’s day Tea Party in which we sipped on tea and ate delicious doughnuts! We were also surprised by a Mother’s Day Parade in which our resident family members decorated their vehicles and paraded around our building for our residents to see their families from afar.
A constant activity that our residents here at Tanglewood absolutely enjoy is the music groups that are led by our very talented Mary Schmidt. Here, we all are united by the universal language of music. We have recently added some new sing-along’s to the mix with hits that bring us back to the good ole times like “Johnny Angel” and “Chapel of Love”. Though our limitations still remain on bringing in entertainment, we surely stay entertained by the lovely voices and talent of our own here at Tanglewood.
Some of our crowd favorite activities that we enjoyed this month were the baking groups we hosted such as making strawberry shortcake with buttermilk biscuits on National Buttermilk Biscuits Day and a patriotic cake for our resident birthday party! We also were excited to add a new giant Connect 4 board that was a huge hit with our residents. The patriotic photo booth and Memorial Day Picnic on our patio were just the icing on the cake as we rounded out the month of May looking forward to all that is to come in June.
We wish you all warm thoughts and blessings as we approach the Summer Season. We absolutely cannot wait to see you all again, so we can have this much fun together! Until then, stay safe, and contact us through the various outlets such as phone calls and letters!
