Tanglewood Manor Memory Care Household June Look Back
What a month June has been! It came and went, and the residents here in the Memory Care Household at Tanglewood Manor are excited for what the Summer season will bring! The month of June started and ended on a high note as we were able to continue some of our favorite activities, as well as introduce some new ones! Our baking group baked us up some delicious chocolate cookies, chocolate mousse, and some “Fun-fetti” cake! We all were delighted when we were also able to bring the campfire into us and enjoy indoor S’mores and hear campfire stories. The fun continued as we celebrated the birthday’s of June with a big party!
As the month carried on, the residents participated in some of our favorite staple activities here in the Memory Care Unit including our music classes with Mary every Tuesday and Thursday, our fitness group every Monday, Wednesday’s and Friday’s with Patrick, and of course our BINGO! This month welcomed some new and exciting activities that definitely made for some fun times! Memory stretchers was a fun cognitive game that enticed the mind and brought out some stories that sparked some reminiscing and laughs! Residents also started chair dancing, yoga, tai chi, and our yoga ball exercises that kept exercising interesting, and worked to facilitate movement, balance, and overall health and wellness.
Our Memory Care residents definitely got crafty this month, making a plethora of different crafts! Tape painting on canvas, rainbow wind socks, beautiful butterfly sun-catcher’s, bow tie pasta butterflies, and firework painting were just a few of the fun arts and crafts that allowed our creativity to shine. The residents also channeled their inner green thumbs and planted flower seeds in terracotta pots that they designed themselves to place in their room windows!
Fathers Day looked a little different than most years due to the remaining restrictions on visitation, but that did not stop us from celebrating all that we love about dads! Donuts with Dad is an annual tradition here at Tanglewood Manor, and we were so delighted to bring in some delicious donuts from a local bakery to celebrate our fathers, sons, uncles, and of course the fathers that we have here at Tanglewood Manor.
Some of the residents favorite socials that took place in the month of June included the 1950’s themed sock hop where they enjoyed root beer floats and the songs of their youth as well as the Summer Solstice party where we celebrated the start of Summer! We look forward to the long days of Summer filled with warm weather, beautiful sunshine, fresh air, and of course all of the fun activities that are planned for the upcoming Summer months.
Though we still are not able to see our loved ones in person, that does not mean we have to lose our sense of togetherness. Write us, or give us a call, we would love to hear from you! Most importantly, we cannot wait to be united again!
