A Day of Music and History: Ring School First Graders Visit Tanglewood Manor

Today was a day filled with music, history, and unforgettable moments as first graders from Ring School made a special visit to Tanglewood Manor, part of the Culture Care Senior Living family. Led by their teachers, Ms. Hanselman and Ms. Mazzurco, and under the guidance of their dedicated music teacher, Kristen Brunacini, the students delighted the residents with a spirited performance of patriotic tunes.

The children’s voices, filled with enthusiasm and joy, resonated throughout Tanglewood Manor, bringing smiles and a sense of nostalgia to the residents. But the highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the chance for the students to meet a living hero — Joseph Brunacini, Mrs. Brunacini’s grandfather-in-law.

Mr. Brunacini, at 104 years old, is one of the oldest living veterans who served during the invasion of Normandy. This historic event, which took place exactly 80 years ago today, is a significant part of our nation’s history. Mr. Brunacini’s bravery and valor during the invasion earned him a Bronze Star, and his stories brought history to life for the young students in a way that no textbook ever could.

Earlier this year, Tanglewood Manor celebrated Mr. Brunacini’s 104th birthday with a grand party, honoring his remarkable life and contributions.

Today, as the students gathered around him, they were not only meeting a war hero but also connecting with a piece of living history. The children listened intently as Mr. Brunacini shared his experiences, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the sacrifices made by his generation.

The event at Tanglewood Manor was more than just a performance; it was a meaningful interaction between different generations. The residents, many of whom have witnessed significant historical events themselves, were deeply moved by the children’s performance and their eagerness to learn. The event created a heartwarming and emotional atmosphere, underscoring the importance of community and intergenerational connections.
