The Tanglewood Group Presents the Chef’s Corner
At the Tanglewood Group we are always striving for ways to engage our families, friends, the community and our residents. Here is just one more way we can do just that. Our Chef’s Corner Blog Posts will highlight our upcoming recipes, special events, and other food topics that relate to seniors. So here you will find us chattering away about that which matters most to many of our seniors, their food! Because they say that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, and we could not agree more here at the Tanglewood Group.
As the summer quickly approaches the Dietary Departments at both Tanglewood Manor and the Frewsburg Rest Home are getting excited! Welcoming the warm weather means welcoming fresh ingredients for our new summer menu that is arriving on the 21st of May. Some of the ingredients that we like to utilize include but are not limited to zucchini, tomatoes, summer squash, potatoes, garden lettuces, an assortment of berries, and other fresh fruits just to name a few.
Also in May, we can’t forget Mother’s Day this upcoming weekend. The menu will feature a turkey dinner with cranberry sauce, bread stuffing, fresh roasted vegetables and angel food cake with berries! This dinner will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in our facilities kitchens. As we come up on Memorial Day do not forget about our Memorial Day Picnic! This year the menu consists of HOUSE MADE FIREMAN’S BBQ CHICKEN! Also on the menu for Memorial day includes German potato salad, fresh broccoli salad, and the first watermelon of the year! In our German potato salad we like to use roasted Idaho potatoes, Vidalia onions, and assorted seasonings which pairs great with the Fireman’s BBQ chicken. What a great start to a great summer at the Tanglewood Group!
