Memory Care Household September Look Back

What a beautiful summer it has been here in our Memory Care Households. We have enjoyed many warm days in the sun and will miss all that summer here has to offer. Although bittersweet, we were ready for some fall fun and September did not disappoint!

We began our month with a Labor Day Party. Barbeque meatballs, chips and dip and brownies made the party a hit. Not a single bite of food was left when the party ended. We finished out the day with some trivia and conversation making it a truly special time together. We had our birthday party with a Tanglewood regular, Angelo Alaimo, playing harmonica music. We also enjoyed celebrating September birthdays with some delicious cake and ice cream.

We celebrated the kick off to Autumn, with a Finally Fall Social where the residents enjoyed cinnamon crumb cake and delicious apple cider. The Fall-themed snacks and party truly made feel in the Fall spirit.

We had some wonderful music this month! We began the month with Bart and Bumpy, and the Kings Express. We also welcomed back Lucille Shurkus, Michael Dennehy, and Richard Bruening. The performers were all awesome.

To keep our minds and bodies active, we played our usual favorites in our spare time. Bingo, bean bag toss, indoor lawn darts, Jingo, Jenga, Jeopardy, and some Hangman were all on the schedule. We also enjoyed Perfection, Prize Twister, UNO, Name 5, amongst many others. Memory Care Household residents also enjoyed creating some wonderful Fall crafts including painted planters and painted Halloween bats that will hang on the unit for Halloween. Last but not least the ladies enjoyed a Tea Party with spice cake and some lovely teas and later in the week joined residents from all areas of Tanglewood for a spelling bee!

As October approaches, we look forward to many upcoming fall favorites. Pumpkin donuts, cider, fall colors, a ride to see the beautiful colors of the leaves and many more exciting things that the fall season has to offer!
